Sweater Knitting Kits That Actually Get Finished

Make a sweater you'll actually wear. Our sweater knitting kits include premium yarn, bamboo needles, a size-inclusive pattern (XS to 3XL), and a private video tutorial series that walks you through every shaping step. From your first beginner sweater kit in bulky yarn to intermediate raglan cardigans and top-down pullovers, every sweater knitting kit in our collection is matched yarn-to-pattern so you get the drape and fit the designer intended.

What's Inside Every Sweater Knitting Kit

Each alpaca sweater knitting kit ships with Cloudtouch® (60% baby alpaca, 40% Peruvian Pima cotton), the exact needle size for the pattern, written instructions with an alpaca sweater pattern designed for your chosen size, a tapestry needle for seaming and weaving in ends, and lifetime video tutorial access. Warm-weather sweaters ship with our SoftCurl 100% Peruvian cotton.

Choose Your Construction

  • Top-down raglan – Seamless, easy to try on as you knit. Best for first sweaters.
  • Bottom-up with seams – Traditional construction with more structure.
  • Oversize pullover – Chunky yarn, forgiving fit, fastest to finish.
  • Fitted cardigan – Buttons, ribbed bands, intermediate shaping.

Yarn Weight Guide

Bulky (our Cloudtouch® Chunky) is the easiest to knit and the fastest. A beginner sweater kit in bulky weight takes most knitters 20 to 35 hours.
Worsted weight gives you classic sweater drape and finer stitch definition. Expect 25 to 50 hours for a pullover.
DK weight is for fitted, more tailored garments. Expect 35 to 70 hours.

How Long to Knit a Sweater?

A bulky-weight pullover takes 3 to 5 weekends of steady knitting for a confident beginner. A worsted-weight cardigan runs 4 to 8 weeks at a few hours per evening. Our video tutorials cover every shaping, seaming, and finishing technique in the pattern.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a beginner knit a sweater?
Yes. A beginner sweater kit in bulky yarn with top-down raglan construction is designed specifically for first-time garment knitters. The video tutorials walk through every step.

What yarn is best for sweaters?
Baby alpaca blends for warmth without itch, merino for durability, cotton for summer wear. Our sweater knitting kits ship with the yarn the designer specified, never a substitute.

Will it itch?
Not if it's made with our Cloudtouch® baby alpaca. Baby alpaca has finer micron fibers than standard alpaca and no surface scales, which is what makes traditional wool itchy.

What sizes are available?
Every alpaca sweater pattern in our collection is graded XS to 3XL. The size chart is accurate and tested.

Can I machine wash a handmade sweater?
Yes, on gentle cycle. Care instructions ship with every kit.
