Our Two Yarns for Crochet

Cloudtouch® (60% baby alpaca, 40% Peruvian Pima cotton) is ideal for cool-weather pieces. It doesn't split under the hook, holds stitch definition cleanly, and feels soft against sensitive skin. Used in the Cloudy Stripes Sweater and Sierra Beret.

SoftCurl (100% long-staple Peruvian cotton) is our warm-weather yarn. It frogs cleanly when you need to pull back rows, which is rare in pure cotton, so it's forgiving for beginners. Used in the Edgewise Vest.

How Long to Finish?

Sierra Beret: 5 to 8 hours. Most crocheters finish in a weekend.
Cloudy Stripes Sweater: 25 to 40 hours over a few weeks.
Edgewise Vest: 15 to 25 hours.
California Waves Blanket: 30 to 60 hours depending on size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do crochet kits include the hook?
Yes. Every crochet kit in our collection ships with the exact hook size the pattern uses.

Is crochet easier than knitting for beginners?
Many beginners find crochet easier to learn because you work one stitch at a time and mistakes are simpler to fix. A crochet starter kit like the Sierra Beret is a great entry point.

What's the best beginner crochet kit?
The Sierra Beret. It's small, finishes fast, and teaches you the core stitches (chain, single crochet, double crochet) in one project.

What yarn works best for crochet?
Smooth, non-splitting yarn with clear stitch definition. Our Cloudtouch® and SoftCurl yarns are both specifically selected to work cleanly under a hook.

Can I machine wash my finished crochet pieces?
Yes, on gentle cycle. Care instructions are in every box.
